Introduction
This retreat will provide a deep exploration of the intellectual foundations of the Islamic Revivalist Tradition, equipping participants with the frameworks, values, and mindset necessary for transformational work within society.
Participants will:
- Examine core concepts that shaped the Islamic Revivalist Tradition.
- Develop thought leadership grounded in Islamic intellectual tradition.
- Learn Islamic values that guide societal transformation.
Aims of the Course
This retreat aims to cultivate a generation of leaders who possess clarity, depth, and confidence in their intellectual grounding.
Primary Objectives
- Prepare emerging leaders to offer informed thought leadership within their organisations and the wider Muslim community.
- Strengthen intellectual rigour so participants can contribute meaningfully to public discourse.
- Enable constructive engagement with societal issues, helping leaders identify emerging problems and propose solutions rooted in Islamic tradition.
- Equip participants to influence how society thinks and functions, using principled reasoning and ethical leadership.
Nature of the Sessions
The retreat will adopt an interactive seminar style, prioritising engagement and critical thinking over passive learning.
Session Format
- Topics will be divided into logical sections.
- Each section includes:
20–30 minutes of guided explanation by the speaker.
10–15 minutes of group discussion, prompted by targeted questions. - A short break will be provided between each major section.
- The goal is to create an environment of shared learning, reflection, and intellectual growth.

Participants will engage with a rich and coherent set of themes essential to understanding the Islamic Revivalist Tradition and the modern world.

- Islamic Revivalist Tradition and Tajdeed (Renewal)
- The Making of the Contemporary World
- Maududian Analytic: Conceptual Framings of Taghut and Jahilliyah
- Understanding Islamophobia
